Former Sanford Cabinet Member points to interference in SC internal affairs and mishandling of Fast and Furious scandal as reasons for Holder’s immediate resignation

(MURRELLS INLET, SC) – In the wake of Attorney General Eric Holder’s failure to intervene in the Fast and Furious “Gunwalking” Operation, unprecedented intrusion into the internal affairs of South Carolina, his perjury before Congress and his intentional obstruction of a Congressional investigation into who is at fault for the death of U.S. Border Control Agent Brian Terry, Chad Prosser is calling for United States Attorney General Eric Holder to vacate his office immediately.

“Holder’s role in blocking the efforts of South Carolina to crack down on illegal immigration and protect the integrity of elections in our state are reason enough for him to resign. Adding perjury, obstruction of justice, and an impending citation for contempt to the case against Holder should be enough for President Obama to ask Eric Holder to leave his cabinet post immediately,” said Prosser.

When Holder was forced to appear before Congress to testify regarding Fast and Furious on May 3, 2011, he told members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that he first heard about the operation “over the last few weeks”. Shortly after his testimony, a briefing memo dated July 5, 2010 and addressed to Eric Holder was uncovered which outlined Fast and Furious and contradicted his sworn statement to Congress. Since that time, the Justice Department has repeatedly denied the media and Congress access to documents surrounding the scandal.

Now, congressional leaders are set to pursue a contempt citation against Holder to force him to comply with multiple requests for government records outlining the failed operation.

“We need an Attorney General committed to upholding and enforcing the law, not one who makes his own set of rules and breaks the law,” added Prosser. “Eric Holder needs to resign immediately and our nation is in desperate need of a president who appoints competent leaders who understand, respect and abide by the law.”

Today, Chad Prosser, Republican candidate in South Carolina’s new 7th Congressional District, placed his first television buy in his campaign to bring conservative reform to Washington.

The spot, titled “Conservative Reformer,” recounts Chad’s experience creating jobs as a successful businessman, his record cutting wasteful spending and eliminating government excess as a cabinet official and his bold plan to shake up Washington by balancing the budget, eliminating debt and repealing ObamaCare.

“I am running for Congress because I have the experience necessary to go to Washington and take a hatchet to the ways of the past,” said Prosser. “With election day six weeks away, I am proud to announce that my campaign has placed our first television buy of the campaign,” said Prosser. “This television spot gets to the heart of what we need in Washington, Representatives who have the experience and the know-how to shake things up.”

“In the three months since I have entered this race, we have assembled a talented team and have had great success in raising the resources necessary to win on June 12th,” added Prosser.

It’s been an exciting couple of weeks on the campaign trail as we traversed the 7th Congressional District. I am humbled by the words of support and encouragement for my conservative reform agenda!

A few of the highlights of the last two weeks: we had our first debate, spent quality time with small business owners in Florence, talked shop with realtors concerned about the housing market, and joined our friends at the Myrtle Beach Tea Party in their fight for a limited and fiscally responsible government. These are just a few of the events our team had the pleasure of participating in.

No matter where I go or what groups I talk to, I hear the same concerns about our nation’s future. Voters understand the need to cut spending, balance the budget, eliminate red-tape and simplify our tax code in order to get businesses to reinvest in the economy and get our friends and neighbors back to work.

On the nights I am not attending events, I have had the pleasure of carrying this message to voters by walking door-to-door and making phone calls. I am astounded at the number of supporters I have met through our grassroots outreach and I am thankful to my friends who have similarly spent many hours spreading our message of conservative reform in Washington.

Additionally, we have had an outpouring of support for our recently launched online petition to tell Obama and Eric Holder to keep their hands off South Carolina’s Voter ID law. While others offered empty rhetoric against this latest intrusion into the lives of South Carolinians by the Obama administration, my team of supporters and I took real action to tell Obama’s Justice Department to back off.

Their interference with a simple law that would ensure the value of every vote cast is appalling. This law was designed to protect the voices of hard working American citizens by minimizing voter fraud and is something that the Obama Administration should not be opposing. They need to be more focused on curtailing the spending that is driving our nation to the brink and fighting our ever growing deficit. Thank you to all that have signed this petition so far. If you haven’t had the chance please click here to join my fight.

Thank you for your support and I hope to see you on the trail soon. If you are interested in volunteering please call me at 843-650-5550 or sign up here: http://www.chadprosser.com/take-action/

Friends,

ObamaCare has been in the news a lot lately. Whether it was the recent two-year anniversary of President Obama signing the bill into law, against the wishes of the American people or the Supreme Court considering the constitutionality of this blatant and unprecedented overreach by government. With the benefit of two years to review this monstrous piece of legislation, it is becoming clearer that it is worse than we could have imagined.

For one, the projected cost of ObamaCare has nearly DOUBLED. No wonder President Obama and the Democrats in Congress wanted to rush this bill through without time for proper review. At a time when our debt is skyrocketing and our spending is out of control, the last thing we should be doing is writing blank checks to fund new government programs.

Secondly, this law gives government broad control over the healthcare industry, which makes up approximately 1/6 of our nation’s entire economy. More big government is not the solution to what ails us. Government mandated, one-size fits all approaches are misguided, unconstitutional and will have disastrous ancillary effects on our nation’s economy. Just one example is the independent Congressional Budget Office’s report that ObamaCare would result in the loss of over 800,000 jobs. At a time when the economy is suffering and economic growth is stagnant, we need the government to get out of the way so that the private sector can breathe.

In my time touring the district I’ve listened to doctors and business leaders who have voiced additional ways that ObamaCare will be negatively impact them. I understand that we need to repeal ObamaCare now, before it can harm to our already weak economy or the quality of our healthcare system.

You can rest assured that my first priority as your Representative will be the complete repeal of ObamaCare.

This week marks two months since I announced my candidacy for Congress in South Carolina’s new 7th Congressional district. I am honored and humbled by the outpouring of support I’ve received from voters all over the district.

When I announced I made it clear that I was running to do three things: balance our budget, eliminate government overreach, and bring conservative reform to Washington. This message has resonated throughout the district. Over the last two months I have talked with people from one end of this district to the other and everyone agrees; Washington is broken and we need new leadership.

I was encouraged this week by two very important developments that will get our country moving in the right direction again. Three days after the second anniversary of passing ObamaCare, which I consider the largest encroachment on American free market principles we have seen, the Supreme Court heard arguments on the constitutionality of the law. This piece of legislation is filled with problems for South Carolina families, but the bottom line is that ObamaCare is unconstitutional, it will destroy American jobs and it must be stopped. I have taken a pledge to repeal this legislation and should I have the privilege of becoming your next Congressman, I will make that my top priority.

The second positive development was the unveiling of the Republican Study Committee’s budget. The RSC budget reduces taxes, reforms Medicare (while allowing seniors to keep their current coverage) and balances the budget within 10 years. This is a piece of legislation that I wholeheartedly support, it takes on the big problems with real solutions and ends the “kick the can down the road” mentality that dominates Washington.

Americans are demanding solutions and Washington needs real conservative reform, not rhetoric. We need a Representative who has the experience in business to understand that balancing the budget is not a luxury, it’s a necessity. We need a Representative who has experience implementing real reform in the public sector, not one who just talks about it. I can take the experience I have gained from balancing budgets and reforming state government to Washington.

Now is not the time to send an untested Representative to Washington. Our children cannot wait and our country cannot afford it.
